Aoyama Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, opened in 1959. Designed by architect Masuta Iwami, the course plays across hilly terrain over 6,342 yards. As one of the older clubs in the region, it opened just over a decade after the war ended, ahead of much of Japan's later golf course construction. The course sits close to central Himeji, roughly 20 minutes by taxi from JR Himeji Station on the Sanyo Main Line. By car, it's about 1 kilometer from the Taishi-higashi Interchange on the Himeji Bypass, or roughly 5 kilometers from the Sanyo-Himeji-nishi Interchange on the Sanyo Expressway. This proximity to Himeji Station and its expressway interchanges makes Aoyama Golf Club a straightforward stop for visitors touring Himeji Castle and the surrounding area who want to add a round of golf.
