Asahino Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 hilly course in Higashiomi, Shiga, opened in 1976. Designed by Shoichi Suzuki, the course measures 6,980 yards from the back tees, one of the longer layouts among nearby Shiga courses. It uses electromagnetic-induction battery carts, an eco-friendly, remotely operated system. The clubhouse has a bath, giving golfers a place to relax after their round. By car, the Meishin Expressway's Ryuo IC is about 15 minutes away, and the ETC-only Gamo Smart IC is roughly 10 minutes from the gate. Golfers without a car can reach the club from JR Omi-Hachiman Station on the JR Tokaido Main Line, a taxi ride of about 25 minutes. The hilly terrain and half-century-old layout give the course a mature, established character, set in the eastern part of Shiga prefecture within reach of both Kyoto and Nagoya.
