Village East-Karuizawa Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course set on hilly terrain in Annaka, Gunma Prefecture, near the border with Nagano's Karuizawa area. Rokuzo Asami designed the course, which opened in 1978 and plays to 6,403 yards. Access by car runs through the Matsuida-Myogi interchange on the Joshin-etsu Expressway, about 8 kilometers from the club, while train travelers can reach Yokokawa Station on the JR Shin-etsu Main Line and continue by car in around 5 minutes. The club includes onsen bathing facilities on site, letting players soak after finishing their round in the surrounding hills. Opened in the late 1970s, Village East-Karuizawa combines the hilly routing common to courses in this part of Gunma with hot-spring bathing, a pairing found at a number of clubs near the Karuizawa resort area just across the prefectural line.
