Member introductions, and how visitors can play without one
Quick answer
Many prestigious Japanese clubs only accept guests introduced by a member, and no booking service can promise entry to every one of them. Visitors have three realistic routes: play as a member’s guest, use a service that has an arrangement with the club, or choose courses that accept visitors without an introduction. Elite Golf Japan’s 37 partner courses across 15 prefectures accept our guests without a membership or a member introduction.

At clubs that require one, a current member vouches for the guest. In practice the member usually makes the booking and often plays in the same group. Each club sets its own rules: whether the member must be present, how many guests a member can bring, and how far ahead the round is booked.
Many of Japan’s courses are open to the public and need no introduction at all. The requirement mainly applies to established private clubs, which is why the most famous names can be the hardest to book.
1. Play as a member’s guest. If you know a member through business or friends, this is the direct route. The member books under the club’s rules.
2. Use a service with an arrangement at that club. Some services have access to particular clubs. Before you plan around a club, ask whether it accepts that service’s bookings for your dates; a general promise of “exclusive access” is not the same as a confirmed tee time.
3. Choose courses that accept visitors. This is the reliable route for most trips. Our partner courses accept our guests without a membership or introduction, and we handle the booking and guest registration in Japanese.
These partner courses are listed as premium or exclusive on our course pages. All accept our guests without a membership or a member introduction. Some keep a stricter, traditional dress code; check each course page.

At clubs that require one, a current member vouches for the guest and usually books the round, and often plays in the same group. The club’s rules decide whether the member must be present and how far ahead the booking is made.
No service can promise that. A service can only book clubs where it has an arrangement or where the club accepts outside bookings. Before you plan a trip around a particular club, ask the service whether that club accepts its bookings for your dates.
